Great location in the financial district. Lot's of subway access. The rooms are beautifully decorated, as is the hotel lobby. But, there is one BIG drawback...it's SO NOISY, even by NYC standards. I swear the windows are paper thin and you can hear cars endlessly driving over a loose manhole on the neighboring street. Constant, maddening, rattling. Also, the room doors do not shut smoothly, so you'll hear every guest on the floor slamming their door at all hours. If you are sensitive to noise in the slightest, this is not the hotel for you. Even if you're not, bring ear plugs!
I was surprised by all the good reviews here - it’s definitely not on par with other 4-star hotels in the same price range, or with what I’d associate with the Thompson brand.
The rooms feel a bit like a motel room that’s been painted and spruced up. Older AC window units, musty smell, hair in the bathroom, etc. - it just doesn’t feel clean. Beds are comfortable enough, though.
Service has been friendly but not very quick.
I would recommend elsewhere if you can!
4.5 primarily for service and the excellent room service from Felice, which I have not seen in a while given the pandemic.
Larger room, at least compared to mid Manhattan. The room has a problematic design, a glass bathroom door right in front of the toilet and dressing area. Whomever designed this was definitely voyeuristic or was thinking guests travel alone or ?? The hotel added a curtain rod (likely due to complaints) but you can still see through, albeit much better.
We almost packed up for a different hotel but decided we would just turn our backs to give the person in the bath privacy. The location is very walkable to restaurants, we walked to the WTC, Battery Park... it also was probably one of the quietest hotels in Manhattan we have stayed since it's on a small, narrow street, not much traffic. Excellent service, warm welcome each time we arrived, Prosecco each evening, coffee in the morning, room always clean when we returned. I didn't catch his name but he handles the door, bags, champagne, basically one stop assistance was very friendly. Service really can make your stay.
The room was very clean, nicely decorated, and supplied. Staff was very accommodating and quick to reply to needs. The gyms are small but adequate. Room service was fast, and the food was very good. Had breakfast at Felice - both food and service were very good. That said, the hotel entrance is hard to find. We had multiple issues getting picked up and dropped off. I'm also not a fan that coffee in the lobby wasn't ready until 6:30am. While they will provide a Keurig maker on request, it was very poor tasting coffee and I only received 1 regular pod. Staff could find more pods for me when I requested them. Coffee seems like something that should always be available. Thank you for a nice stay!
Great hotel located in lower Manhattan, very close to the world trade centre and the 9/11 memorial. Closest subway station is Fulton street and it has many exits which are convenient from the hotel.
The hotel decor is English style with dark wood and lighting.
We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary with a trip to NYC and this hotel stay was the icing on the cake. We found chocolates and grape juice waiting for us in our room. And we also had free served breakfast for the entire duration. The AMEX deal we got was fantastic.
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely start here again.
Thank you Gild Hall for making our stay a memorable one.
Great stay on the Thanksgiving weekend! We got a free upgrade and were staying on the 16th floor of the Hotel. Rob was extremely sweet and helped us with some popular tourist spots, and some free wine at the reception!
The room was clean, comfortable and overall it was a great stay.
We had a really solid overnight stay, but there was some room for improvement.
First the good. Valet available, restaurant on site is wonderful, champagne upon check in, comfy lobby with coffee and tea.
Now the constructive. When we pulled up we showed the valet our SpotHero reservation and he said okay and took the car. When we checked out and saw we were billed for it, the front desk agent told us that is for the valet on the corner, not their valet…. This hotel is also on the corner.. . Separately in the morning prior to check out time someone knocked on our door and very quickly opened it. We had the bolt on but were very clearly yelling we are in here. As two women, this was unacceptable and left us feeling that this hotel is not safe for solo or solely female travelers. Lastly, the tub was pretty old looking and I personally chose to forego a shower rather than shower barefoot in the tub.
We were upgraded to the presidential suite and honestly this was the most beautiful room we have seen. Spacious, clean, very comfortable beds.
The service was impeccable, you're greeted with a glass of proseco. The front desk was very helpful and answered all of our questions.
There's a paying parking (65US$ / 24h) right next to the hotel. Considering you're right in Manhattan, the price was reasonable. You're close to the statue of liberty and by train/ metro 20 min away from Time Square which is easily done.
